Reading Room

Come in, relax and read some samples of Fiona’s work. Her passion for spoken word most likely stems from her deep connection to storytelling and her Jamaican heritage.  Those early years spent growing up in Jamaica, then continuation of life in the United States gave way to a journey of life experiences and the ability to express some of those stories, emotions, and thoughts through the written and spoken word. Enjoy!

I can feel it coming in the air

and I’m pushing to the front of this line,

with my empty cup I’m ready to fill mine

I’m coming!

The excitement has been brewing for some time

and I no longer remain timid, filled with

excuses or hindered by my many bruises,

I’m coming!

I’m smiling as if my secret is about to burst

like a flower waiting to bloom at first peeking through,

lining up with nature and time, that’s me!

I’m coming!

I’ve been longing, looking, lurking not without hope

though things seemed hopeless, with only the

past as a reminder that maybe,

just maybe the replay is worth it,

oh but I know what I know...

I’m coming!

More than a feeling

there’s a special healing,

the seasons a changing,

my name I hear it calling! Deeply, I’m inhaling,

‘cause soon I’ll be indulging

with this newness of LOVE!
